France 2009
This July tour had three objectives:
1. Follow the River Loire, from sea to Source.
2. Visit 2 sets of friends, holidaying in the South. One in a gîte near Ales, in Provence. The other on their boat in St Raphael, near Cannes.
3. Get back to Calais in time for the Centenary celebration of Blériot's crossing of the English Channel in 1909. An article and pictures are here.
All three were achieved in a 14 day trip that covered 2385 miles (3815 km). There were 30 flights. Fly with me by going to the gallery below.
A second, shorter tour was also made, in August. I was requested by a young club member, Graham Daniel, to advise him how to fly out to La Baulle, near the mouth of the Loire. I ended up escorting him, via Bergerac, some 220 miles (350 km) further south!
